Brilliant Newspiece!

One of my images, 'CandleMan', is the overall winner of The Pictureworks Art Competition 2009.  The image was shot in a church in Copacabana, Bolivia.
As part of the prize the image will be printed on 50,000 postcards which will be available at over 300 locations throughout Ireland from this week.

A very bad blogger

Yes indeed, I have been a very bad blogger of late.

I was away in South America for 2 months over Christmas and only now (6 months later, I know!) am I getting round to posting the images. You will find lots of new work from my travels already on my photography website, I will post all the rest here.

I hope you enjoy!

South America - People

Some images of people from my travels in South America

My Argentian counterpart

Bolivian women like their hats...

...and their pigtails and skirts

Salar di Uyuni, Bolivia

Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio di Janeiro

More Bolivian hats

South America - Places

Some images of interesting places I came across in South America

This was taken from the side of a mountain in Bolivia. The woman just walked into the frame at the last second

I love the man on the anvil!

A village in Bolivia

La Paz, Bolivia. A fantastically hectic capital city, crammed into a valley

Three views of Cusco, Peru

All the above were taken in the Bolivian countryside around the Salar De Uyuni region, a magical place

A long and winding Peruvian road

The sky from Isla del Sol, Bolivia

Two views of Iguazu Falls on the Argentian/ Brazilian border. They are huge. You feel utterly insignificant beside them

Machu Picchu, Peru at dawn

South America - Random

What follows are random photos from South America that I couldn't really categorize.

Liked all these textures and shapes..

Coming from a very Catholic family, I've seen my fair share of cribs. This one in Brazil is the weirdest/ ugliest I ever did see.

They love their classic American cars in Argentina, they're everywhere. I took lots of photos of them, this was my favourite car.

Some funny signs

A bored Brazilian dog

For all you fashion snobs...

A rather cool record shop in Buenos Aires. They stocked lots of 'Los Beatles'

Places

As much as possible, I try and carry a camera around with me wherever I go. These photographs are of some of those places. Some of the images were taken with my digital camera, others shot on film.

Holga

A Holga camera is a cheap plastic 120 film camera. Its a fantastically terrible camera, it only has two aperture settings, the body leaks light onto the film and the even the lens is made of crappy plastic. But all this adds to the unmistakeable quality of Holga images which are often blurred and vignetted. I love it, as you just never know what you are going to get. These are some of my favourite photos taken with my Holga.

Bikes

When not falling off them, I like bikes. Heres a collection of photos of bikes, the majority of which were taken on a recent holiday around cycle loving Holland.

Animals

Who doesn't love animals? The cat's name is Rocco, no idea about the rest of them.

Assorted

An assortment of photographs that I can't really categorize into sections. Basically the fruits of always carrying a camera around with me.
